Alameda & San Francisco Counties Proclaim Fred Korematsu Day

On January 25, 2011, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors officially proclaimed Fred Korematsu Day to be celebrated on January 30, 2011. Pictured (from left): Tak Shirasawa, Ron Tanaka, Sharron Sue, Jim Duff, Supervisor Keith Carson, Ken Korematsu and Al Satake.

Also on January 25,  the San Francisco Board of Supervisors passed a resolution unanimously declaring January 30 Fred T. Korematsu Day of Civil Liberties and the Constitution, to commemorate the spirit and meaning of Fred Korematsu’s life, and the importance of preserving and protecting our civil rights and liberties, even in times of real or perceived crisis.
