Korematsu documentary screening in Alameda, CA on May 15

The Alameda Multicultural Community Center is hosting a free screening of the film Of Civil Wrongs & Rights: The Fred Korematsu Story on May 15 in recognition of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The Alameda Japanese American Citizen’s League is co-sponsoring the event, from 2 to 5 p.m., at Buena Vista United Methodist Church, 2311 Buena Vista Ave.

Karen Korematsu and Don Tamaki will speak and Wendy and Peter Horikoshi will perform music based on the evacuation and later reparations. Karen Korematsu is the daughter of Fred and Kathryn Korematsu and co-founder of the Korematsu Institute. Don Tamaki is an attorney and member of Korematsu’s 1983 legal team that helped overturn Korematsu’s 1944 conviction.
