EDUCATION AND ENGAGEMENT INTERNSHIP

The Fred T. Korematsu Institute’s Mission:

The Fred T. Korematsu Institute (KI) is a national education advocacy organization committed to promoting civic participation and education to advance racial equity, social justice, and human rights for all. Through our educational programs, media, and exhibits, and speaking engagements, we inspire people and organizations to, as Fred said, “stand up for what is right.”

Position Overview:

This Internship will be working at the intersection of research, public policy, and education in the United States in a non-instructional support role. The Education and Engagement Intern will provide general project support, participate in data collection activities and perform outreach along with other logistical duties for the Korematsu Institute. The position supports the Korematsu Institute in developing and maintaining community relations and educational partnerships, especially with public-school districts and education-focused members of state legislatures and assisting our work encouraging Ethnic Studies curricula adoption on a state and national level.

The primary goal of this internship is to research education policy, develop relationships with stakeholders and manage requests from educators in support of the advocacy and educational work of the Fred T. Korematsu Institute.
Commitment:
This is a part-time unpaid internship with flexible hours. There will be required weekly meetings and the possibility to work remotely. College credit may be available. Interns report directly to the Strategy and Education Consultant and Executive Director.
