Your Voice matters. Vote

While the next presidential election won’t be held until Tuesday, November 5, 2024 – along with all 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives and 34 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate – there are plenty of local, gubernatorial, and tribal elections taking place in 2023. The off-year election will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, and includes gubernatorial and state legislative elections in Kentucky, Louisiana, and Mississippi, as well as several mayoral races, special elections, and referendums around the country.

With bills regarding women’s rights, voter access, and civil rights on the ballot, it is important to remember that your voice matters. When it comes to civic responsibility, your vote will help shape the country you want to live in. Voting is a privilege but also a responsibility.

The Korematsu Institute advocates for civic participation to make choices for our collective future. And we believe civic education about our rights and liberties is now more important than ever. Elections cover everything from representatives for your local school board to your state’s governor. Don’t miss out! This is about ALL OF US!

There are plenty of non-partisan websites that can help you get to the polls. Check your voter registration status at APIAVote and find out what is on your local ballot at Vote.org. Learn if your state allows early voting and make sure your registration is up-to-date.

The right to vote is precious, almost sacred. It is the most powerful nonviolent tool or instrument in a democratic society. We must use it.” – Representative John Lewis (1940-2020)
